You're reading my thoughts, I've been saying this for years. I've been working in countless projects where the main aim was in diversity for business sake. People are tokens who help the boss earn more funding through having a certain skin color or identity and just being there. In fact, in my experience, people love it because everyone's afraid to fire members of minorities. It makes them look bad. Especially in the era of political correctness. I'm not saying that you don't even have to be literate to land the job if you're black/gay/trans/etc but in liberal leftist-leaning circles and economy, that's how things tend to be. I've seen a great theater play about this. A seminar with a group of people representing minorities and majorities. With a business agenda behind their gathering, of course.
