For me, democracy is about being responsible for your choices and taking your responsibilities seriously, as well as a mandatory and consequential connection between cause and effect. If anything has been proven in the last 30 years, it's the fundamental rejection of these principles. The axis of the problem is infusing each generation's ideological DNA with long-lasting hstorical grudges going back all the way to the Ottoman times. And all the time it's about revenge and retribution. Even Ratko Mladić said the genocide in Srebrenica was a retribution for the Ottoman invasion. With a mindset like that, this country doesn't stand a chance. All ethnic groups refuse to let go of grudges and this is why no wars that took place by now here ever ended in a true sense of the word. Don't believe what they tell you about multiculturalism: we never really liked each other that much, but there was enough money in the budget to surpres the mutual disgust with a decent standard of living.
