The point is once somebody wins they can’t lose, and once somebody loses they can’t win. Taylor Swift could release an album tomorrow of her making armpit farts, and she’d probably break spotify records again and get a five star review in the Guardian, and a relatively unknown artist could release an album easily as good as Swift’s mediocre latest album and it will remain entirely unnoticed. Culture has become a car that no one is driving.
