A personality isn't enough today. If it weren't for the stylists, producers, writers, PR etc, no one would care. If you choose to playby your own rules, you're out of the system and spotlight. That's why they have contracts with recording companies. Those are rarely fair but you either sell out to the highest bidder or go back to waitressing with a side-hustle on spotify. That's how the world works, unfortunately.
